Celine Love - Colouring In (EP)

Acclaimed soul-folk singer, songwriter Celine Love shares her highly anticipated new EP ‘Colouring In’, out everywhere now.

Known for creating deeply cinematic sound worlds with her music, Celine Love is a formidable singer, songwriter and artist whose music has the ability to transcend genres and invoke deep emotions. Blending elements of folk, R&B and soul, with hints of Americana influences, Celine’s vocal delivery soars with passion and emotion on each track on her stunning new EP.

Securing herself as a firm favourite on London’s live scene, and her previous EP ‘Aquarius SZN’ and single releases landing high praise from key tastemakers such as BBC Radio 1, COLORS x STUDIOS, Wonderland, Notion, DUMMY, ENFNTS TERRIBLES, TUSH Magazine, Record of the Day, Projext Liquid and many more, Celine describes this music as her most authentic to date.

The EP features the already released single ‘Candy Eyes’ - produced by Ian Barter (Paloma Faith,Izzy Bizu,Gabrielle), ‘Candy Eyes' is a romanticised ode to the British summertime. With breezy guitar riffs paired with Celine’s dreamy and whimsical vocals, the track explores the first stages of love and the magic of dating in London in the summer.

Gold Plated Tears’ slows the pace down the new single slows the pace down and showcases Celine’s love for indie and folk music. With a haunting guitar riff at its core, Celine’s gorgeously sultry vocals take centre stage. Lyrically, it explores situationships that you find yourself pouring too much of yourself into.

Her most recent single, the breathtakingly epic ‘Black Limousine’ is a fan favourite at Celine’s live shows and was written eight years ago about the brutal nature of the music industry. Releasing the track now further highlights how much the track resonates with Celine today.

Unreleased track Blue Kingdom was written in Celine’s early twenties about experiencing physical anxiety for the first time - “The words in the chorus  ‘You’re the one rocking the boat, your hands are right around my throat, hold tight’ are probably the darkest lyrics I’ve ever written. I’m addressing whatever higher power would make me feel so hopeless as well as personifying my anxiety. Writing this song was very hard but lifted a weight off my chest that I was scared was going to weigh me down forever.”

The EP’s title ‘Colouring In’ encapsulates what the EP as a whole is about. Next to colourful song titles, all the tracks portray different, yet vibrant aspects of herself. They paint a picture including every emotion under the sun. An overarching theme is her relationship with the music industry. It starts with the raw and honest intro, ‘NUDE’ (self -produced, mixed and mastered) which includes a voice note from Celine expressing a vulnerable moment about being an independent artist.

She says, “My message to anyone who comes across the EP would be to allow every colour to shine without worrying if they'll blend. Orange, Blue, Gold, Black, Nude… those are only a handful and they've all come together to paint this picture. This is my story and it's messy and beautiful and it's relatable and sometimes doesn't make any sense at all. We say ‘art is subjective’ for that very reason.”
