YO!
Welcome back to Yo! – Your go to spot for a bi-monthly fix of the latest releases, videos, news and vibes gathered up neatly in a Yo! sized bundle!

CJ Fly – Now You Know
The Pro Era camp have been seriously busy this year developing a fine collection of artists, with a really strong in house sound. One of their family, CJ Fly, is set to drop is new album Flytrap on 9th December on Pro Era / Cinematic Music Group. Keep an eye out for this fella, he’s set for big things!

A Tribe Called Quest – We The People
Dunno whether you heard, but there’s this little group on the come up called Tribe Called Quest, and they’ve just dropped an album called We Got It From Here, Thank You 4 Your Service, featuring Busta Rhymes, Anderson. Paak, Kendrick Lamar and even Elton John. We were worried the album may have fallen on deaf ear so we thought we’d give it a little support!

Loyle Carner – The Isle Of Arran
We love Loyle, he’s humble, talented, diverse and incredibly eloquent and creative. This video is subtle as ever, and catches the progressive nature of Loyle Carner’s ever evolving sound. Taken from Loyle’s forthcoming Yesterday’s Gone album dropping on AMF Records, directed by Georgia Hudson, we’re seriously excited to see the album go on tour early 2017 and released to an ever growing audience.

Anthony Hamilton – Journey Home To Charlotte – Noteworthy (Interview)
The ever talented Anthony Hamilton travels home to Charlotte to his childhood church. Featuring a relaxed and in depth interview interspersed with stunning gospel gems, including an accapella piece from the Hamiltones. As one of many hip-hop heads favourite soul voices, Anthony is a great character and a really interesting creator. Grab a cuppa, get yourself cosy and check out this lovely interview!

Chaos Jigsaw – You Make It
Premiered on Wordplay last week, Chaos Jigsaw is an MC and multi-instrumentalist hailing from Stoke-On-Trent. With Stephen King references throughout, You Make It is a mini horror video, and serves as a dark introduction to the 22 year old MC’s. Taken from his forthcoming Six Weeks EP, stay tuned to Chaos Jigsaw for more alternative, genre fusing vibes.

Ta-ku & Wafia – Tiny Desk Concert
A few months back we featured Anderson. Paak’s incredible Tiny Desk Concert. We love what NPR music are doing, and this set is no different. Featuring the truly incredible Australian producer and vocalist Ta-ku alongside his Aussie vocal counterpart Wafia, this is a warm, intimate and stunning acoustic performance. We highly recommend you checking out Tiny Desk Concerts for some amazing alternative versions of already great songs.

Holly Flo Lightly – Apéritif EP
Teaming up with Sika Records, one of Wordplay’s Top Ten UK Female MC’s, Holly Flo Lightly returns with a Jazz infused, grimey and stylish EP full of candid, as ever honest and at points hilarious lyrics. Holly smashed up the festival scene over the Summer, and is now driving through with over tracks, moving towards a full album release next year. Stay tuned to Wordplay for more Holly based activities very soon!

Tech N9ne & Smoke DZA freestyle over Pete Rock Production on Sway In The Morning
It’s always having a spot of Pete Rock in the morning! This performance (although we slightly disagree with the fresstyle as they’re pre-written!) is chilled, lyrical and full of raw vibes. Tech sounds dope as ever, and Smoke comes with some battle rhymes. BUT, part way through the guys into at and ACTUALLY freestyle! Great to see. Check that double time rhyme!

So! That’s us for a few weeks! We hope you enjoyed our little sample of what musical goodness is out there right now, we certainly did! Until next time people!
