Premiere: Hell Is Real- Reece Williams Prod. Dyslexis

If you’re familiar with the spoken word scene in Manchester, you’re more likely to associate Reece Williams (of the INNA VOICE and Young Identity collectives) with punchy, political poetry than music.

He has opened for the likes of international spoken word legend Saul Williams, Mercury Prize Winner Kate Tempest and hip-hop forerunners The Last Poets. His debut project, WARREN EP, maintains all the refined hallmarks of Reece’s work, whilst breaking new ground.

Released on his new imprint Griot City Records on 14th May 2018, two years to the day since the passing of his father, the eponymous subject of the project, WARREN is a 4-track expression of love, loss and ultimately manhood. Produced by Dyslexis (of APE CULT and Project APEX), with stunning contributions from Metrodome (of LVLZ), Dom Hz and Berry Blacc, the EP’s sound is influenced by African percussion, house and trap music. The lyrics are honest, sharp and powerful and together with the production presents Reece’s bravest body of work to date.

Wordplay Magazine premieres the visuals for Hell Is Real, Directed by Karl John, hosted on spoken word channel AndWhatTV.
