10 Questions - Eldé
We caught up with contemporary R&B/Neo-Soul vocalist Eldé to discuss her sound, proudest moments to date and what she has dropping this year. Here we GO:
1. What's your name, chosen craft and where are you based?
My names Jeniequa Evinity Quamina, but most of you will know me best as ELDÉ, I’m a 23 year old singer/songwriter from West London.
2. How would you describe your sound?
My style of music is Contemporary R&B; which is R&B with elements of Pop music infused with electronic sounds. I’d describe my sound as FRESH, ENCHANTING, and SPACIOUS. Yes spacious - because I’m constantly leaving room for the inevitable!
3. What’s the proudest moment to date for you as an artist?
My proudest moment to date as an artist would definitely be placing 3rd out of 9 thousand acts in a music competition and getting to perform at the 02 Indigo - that was definitely a big moment for me. Also performing at LOVEBOX FESTIVAL 2018, that was huge, I’m ever so grateful and just hoping to get more opportunities like this in 2019.
4. Do you have any advice for our readers and other aspiring artists?
Honestly, you've just got to keep going! It’s super important to remain focused at all times, know your goal and how you’re gonna go and get it - It’s all about strategy; I create mood boards, weekly lists and I run my life on a schedule, it makes everything easier and gives me the clarity I need to continue on my journey.
5. What have you got planned for the not so distant future?
Wouldn't you guys like to know? Hahah, nah … I’m playing! I’ve got a brand new single called Whatchu Want and visuals coming to you this January. To be honest I’m sitting on a ton of music right now, carefully selecting the right tracks for my next big project Metaphoric State of Mind, which I plan to release half way through 2019. If you loved my About Us project then you’re definitely going to love this one - there’s some exciting times ahead, seriously.
6. Favourite artist and album of all time?
My favourite artist in the whole wide world would definitely have to be Queen B. One of my favourite albums of all time would definitely have to be Usher - 8701 - Its sickkkkk! Like how is every track on there a banger?!
7. What’s the best venue you have played live?
I’ve performed in big venues, but I'm a sucker for an intimate gig! I absolutely love ‘The Camden Assembly’, and I also used to perform quite frequently at a venue called ‘The Battersea Barge’ .
8. What did you eat, drink, smoke when in the studio? Do you have a regime?
When I’m in the studio It’s a Deliveroo or Uber Eats flex, Its whatever really. So unhealthy I know!
