Wordplay's silent auction @ Curzon Cinema, Clevedon for Mid 90's

Wordplay have long been a part of the wider Hip Hop, graffiti and skate communities, and have offered support, promotion and exposure for projects across the UK. We are proud to be involved with the Mid 90’s Film night at Curzon Cinema in Clevedon. Based in North Somerset, the cinema is the longest continuously running cinema in the country. Established in 1912, the charity are currently undergoing a massive push to Save The Curzon as the grade listed building’s roof needs to be repaired and runs the risk of closure.

Alongside Curzon, the event creator is the Clevedon Skate Project, who are currently trying to redevelop the local space into an all weather skate park by the seafront. We love film and skating, so we jumped at the opportunity to support both causes by creating a silent auction, and as this is Wordplay we are doing it properly!

We have selected some of our favourite images from amazing Wordplay photographers, some which you may seen before, and some have never been published. The images up for are grabs are:

The photographers involved in the silent auction are:
- Rosie Matheson - RZA & Anderson Paak
- Anis Ali - Dirty Dike, Chester P & Eva Lazarus
- Paul Astley - Awate
- Owen Porter - Illa J

The silent auction will take place from 7:30pm on Saturday 18th May 2019 at Curzon Cinema Clevedon. The night will also feature a cypher and jam from Bristol’s Golden Lion Hip Hop band plus a DJ set from The Outbreak Collective.

All pictures will start at £20 unframed and £30 framed, and every penny goes towards these great causes.
Grab your ticket from HERE.

Here is the film created by some local students currently studying with boomsatsuma based on Clevedon Skate Project and the plans for the redevelopment to explain a little bit more about the project we are supporting:
