Mr Slipz Interview

1.    So tell me, how did it all begin?  What sparked your love for music?

It began with me arriving here on planet earth!! Music resonated with me from a young age, encourage from my parents that interacted with music, from that blossomed a love and understanding of what one can gain from interaction with music which basically morphed into an addiction and illness one could say.

2.    Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?

Most of people that influence me are just people that carry a passion and love for something, could be a random person I just met or someone who was in my life years ago or even currently. Musically too many people to name I guess most of the stuff I listened to has influenced me somehow. A lot of 90’s stuff and stuff from the early 2000’s, too many artist to name a lot of the stuff that gets sampled how it’s arranged and produced has influenced me!!! The people that influenced me would never work with me haha!

3.    Your new single is out and doing the rounds, we love it, I know there is an album just round the corner which we are really excited for, are you able to tell us about it and when we can expect it?

Thank you, basically the sound of Verbz’s journey over my take on 90’s sounding beats with a touch of lofi and slipperiness.

4.    How would you describe your sound?

Hip hop, boombap, lofi, slippery shit, raw shit, pretty shit, pretty average tbh!

5.    What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

Still enjoying making music every day after 10 years, and probably supporting Onyx and Talib Kweli back in 2015 in Barca, and sitting next to illiterate currently he smells good.

6.    Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?

Just make music everyday and apply it to your everyday routine, don't sleep, eat or leave your studio, skip work, dump your girlfriend and do everything you can to make time for it. Don’t try to walk before you can run and make one song and put a music video out, just focus on the craft and jump on opportunities, network and be patient music doesn't owe us nothing so don’t expect anything from it. “It don’t stop”.

7.    Are there any artists on your radar at the moment that we should check out?

Yeah for sure, rappers, I fuck with Hawk House, there dope, Imaginary Friend, Coops, Tahitee, Capriisun, Eerf Evil, Kofi Stone, Allic, Dereck Dac, Producers, Afta 1, Funki Flava, the homies Jeen Bassa, Tom Yum, Bo Bribery, illiterate, Bay 29, Morf, fuck knows a lot of people, really anyone making some fire.

8.    What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?

I don’t have Spotify lol and not i’m super up to date with music but recently i’ve been listing to Afta-1 stuff a lot, Group Home always, the Griselda family too.

9.    What do you like to do when you’re not making music?

I don’t know what to do when not making music, haha ffs, I like to take photos, do normal shit, see homies and home girls, do life maintenance stuff, go to work, paint walls, go for bike rides, walk dogs.

10. Name Three things you can't live without?
