Quakers: ll - The Next Wave (Album)
Quakers are a hip-hop supergroup focused around a trio of producers - Fuzzface, better known as Geoff Barrow of Portishead; Supa K, formerly Katalyst; and 7STU7, in-house producer/engineer at Invada Records - plus an extensive cast of vocalists.
In 2012, Quakers dropped their self-titled debut album on Stones Throw. Eight years later, they’re back with the long-overdue follow up, Quakers II: The Next Wave. This new offering is comprised of 55 minutes of hard hitting hip-hop across 33 concise tracks and features 31 different rappers, including; Jeremiah Jae, Sampa The Great, Guilty Simpson, The Koreatown Oddity and Jonwayne.
Quakers II: The Next Wave is as equally loud and unapologetic as Quakers' debut, but also more explicitly political with songs that speak directly to corruption, racism, and the climate crisis. “The project has evolved organically, similar to last time”, explains Supa K, "but the world has changed and the music reflects that. We've had enough of the global corruption and all those profiting from it”.
