Karl Benjamin - Apricot Sky (DEBUT SINGLE)

I first met Karl at university I remember watching one of his auditions and briefly running after him in the street. I just needed to tell him how incredible he really is, in that moment I knew it’s just a matter of time for him.

Imagine the delight when I had seen that he was releasing his debut single and it did not disappoint.

Starting with a fade in and those lush harmonies to show off his range, making your ears prick up and commands your attention. The lyrics ‘too much time spent in front of the TV’ I’m sure we’ve all been there. Plus ‘when I know that you wanna see me’ I do feel that these lyrics can be interpreted in different ways. Could be about current lover, past lover or simply about going into a cocoon and forgetting how to socialise. Which in all honesty is something very prominent considering the current affairs. Karl has infused alt-soul elements beautiful melody choices and adlibs with a dash of R n B and I am here for it. With the cheeky unexpected break down at the end makes you wanna do some sort of slo-mo effect with your phone to it. I cannot wait to see what else is up his sleeve.

Be sure to follow Karl Benjamin for the latest. His music - including Apricot Sky available to stream now.
