Bacchus ft: Doberman - Up North (Official Video)
Standing in the murky waters between Grime, Trap and Hip-Hop, Bacchus delivers conceptual bars over hefty, sub-heavy instrumentals.
Whilst his fast-paced tracks are reminiscent of the UK Bounce and Bassline tunes that sound tracked his younger years, his lyrics are fuelled by a deep-rooted cynicism, contrasting the screw-faced aesthetic of grime with straight talking and satirical commentary on this surroundings.
Up North is the first track to be released from Mood Swings, the debut album from Bacchus.
Backed by a filthy, rattling grime beat from Uncool Sam, Bacchus teams up with Yorkshire rapper Doberman to lace the track with raw and relentless flows.
The bars and visuals (shot and edited by Dfacer) form a sharp social commentary on the North-South divide, taking shots at everything from the lingering fallout of Thatcherism, to Londoners that don’t talk to strangers.
