Onoe Caponoe - Midnight Starship Tour

Earlier this year and before the COVID-19 virus completely engulfed Europe and the rest of the world, we were allowed to meet up with one another in confined spaces, dance and sweat on each other. When we were allowed to enjoy our freedom, Onoe Caponoe set about his first ever solo tour in celebration of his new release, Invisible War (available on High Focus Records). The Midnight Starship tour was organised and the journey was mapped out through 14 locations in England, Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary and Poland. Complete with his 169% conglomerate, Onoe Caponoe embarked on his DIY musical adventure to unleash holy-delic madness on his fans whilst spreading his messages of peace and love.

I accompanied the Midnight Starship on it’s journey through Antwerp, Tilburg, and Luxembourg. The first destination on the Starship’s journey was Het Bos in Antwerp, Belgium. This is also where we first met Blu Samu and her DJ Loumana, the support acts who accompanied The Starship on this leg of the European tour. Local MC YaMotto, opened up the evening, with tracks from his Antwerp Scum E.P. Then the amazing Blu Samu took to the stage and graced the audience with her hard hitting Belgian-Portugese rap. This was Blu’s first instalment of three performances and she certainly set the bar high for the rest of the tour, her style is unique and her energy is ferocious, which is well matched to the likes of Onoe Caponoe. Onoe, with the assistance of Miles Dare and DJ BB, took his audience on an immersive journey through time and space, which left his congregation feeling overcome with a spectrum of emotions. The show could be compared to a religious ceremony of sorts.

After the roaring success of the show in Antwerp and complete with our new recruits Blu and Loumana, The Starship continued its journey to repeat the madness in Tilburg in the Netherlands and then finally to Luxembourg City. Every night we spent on the road was a wild adventure. The final show in Luxembourg was definitely the best of the tour. We were met by great people, an amazing venue and crowd, and our hosts provided us with the most amazing hospitality we experienced whilst on the road. We certainly ended on a high. The journey home was spent recapping on the 96 hours of insanity we’d all just endured. Even though we had spent those three day’s living in each other's pockets, everyone involved in our experience was staying connected through our devices, chatting and posting about it. This made returning back to the U.K. even more sobering and as much as we all wanted to remain on tour, we equally wanted to get back home to sleep it all off.
