Awate - All Good Things

Visionary Eritrean rapper, AWATE drops a surprise compilation of remixes, features and B-sides. A supplement to 2018’s acclaimed LP, Happiness[1], the sounds are as revolutionary and soulful as ever.

AWATE is a rapper and producer from Maiden Lane Estate in Camden. Honing his craft from the age of 12, he made a name for himself at the legendary hip-hop spot, Deal Real when he was 15. As a refugee from Eritrea via Saudi Arabia, AWATE’s lyrics are a complex train of thought on subjects like self-esteem, racism, pride and class. His debut EP, Shine Ancient was praised by Idris Elba and debut LP, Happiness was called a “British rap masterpiece”, by Trench Magazine. Both were produced by Turkish Dcypha and made in a two year period when AWATE successfully defeated four racist and unlawful police prosecutions. The Camden emcee is known for not compromising in musical quality or social integrity and has support from BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, 6 Music, KISS, Trench, Noisey, Record of the Day, The Line of Best Fit, Complex, AFROPUNK, OkayAfrica and Huck Magazine.
