Henry Stone – Black Inferno (A Spoken Word Film)
Multi-talented artist Henry Stone has just released an amazingly powerful spoken word piece Black Inferno. Against the incredibly poetic lyricism we’re a little lost for words so who better to explain the motivations and processes behind the track than the man himself:
"Five weeks ago I wrote a poem for George Floyd and asked everyone on my my Instagram around the world who attended Black Lives Matter protests to send me their footage. This is what happened next.
I received protest footage across the entire world to help make this poem and the response was INCREDIBLE. This poem/spoken word film is a tribute to all victims who have lost their lives to racial injustice & police brutality and to those who continue to fight for systemic change around the world. This video represents the global #blacklivesmatter protests which has spread across 70 countries worldwide, making it the biggest civil rights movement in history. The murder of George Floyd is another example of the brutality black citizens face on a daily basis and only through direct action can we force systemic change. To all those who sent me footage and to the team that helped me put this video together, this is for you. It's only standing as one fist and one family can we ever dream of defeating structural racism. This poem and this film was made for the people and by the people. We stand as one fist and one family. Black Lives Matter always." - Henry Stone
Black Inferno is available on Spotify, Apple Music and Soundcloud as well as the video above. Follow Henry on Twitter and Instagram to stay up to date with his music and more.
