Ipswich-born, London-based rapper and producer Piers James shares new video for ‘Young, Black, British.

This is taken from his EP A Dying Breed Part 1. On this EP, Piers reflects on the hardships he’s experienced and the obstacles he’s hurdled, from being temporarily forced to sideline his dream of pursuing music in order to support his young son, to reflecting on the regular micro-aggression’s and often overt racism he suffered growing up in a predominantly white town. ‘Young, Black, British’ (a track written 3 years ago with a nod to Jon Boyega), feels more powerful than ever after the prominent BLM movement. Piers seeks to inspire others to transcend similar circumstances and aspire to greatness, name-checking other beacons of black excellence.

Having been championed by the likes of BBC 1xtra, BBC Introducing, COLORS and GQ Magazine and handpicked to open up for Ed Sheeran's 45,000 capacity showcase last year, Piers has quietly been making moves as an extremely adept artist to watch.
