Skeamer Interview + Stay Real (Official Video)
1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?
To be honest what sparked my love for music was listening to D Block, Styles P and to see how they were doing music and made me think I want to rap as well. I want to rap my story, not saying that they are exactly the same as mine but I relate to the stuff that they are rapping about, that was the first thing that made me want to start rapping.
2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?
Some of the artists that influence me, more like American artist to be fair, like Meek Mill, Roddy Ricch, they come from nothing, so kind of like me. I feel like it is proved that you can come from nowhere and make something.
To be honest, at the moment I don't really know who I would like to work with, right now if the right thing comes along for me to do, then I will do it. But I'm just focusing on myself right now.
3. What are some of the problems you have faced making and releasing the project during the coronavirus pandemic?
I had some big shows booked that got cancelled due to Coronavirus and it's messing up music and studio time, because of Coronavirus it was shut. There were loads of things and I had to push my project back.
I felt that when I went to the studio I feel like it's got to be done because I'm in the studio but when there was the lockdown and I was at home I feel I had more of a chance to sit down and perfect my craft and I can take my time and when I go back to the studio I will ready.
4. How would you describe your sound?
I feel like my sound is just real and it's just for the streets and if you relate to the streets and you are from where I'm from then you will relate to what I am saying. I think some of my music relates to people that are going through stuff, some people might be going through pain, like how I've gone through pain.
5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?
My proudest moment to date was getting my plaque for 7 million views, a big plaque that is in my house and something that I can look back on and be say to my kids 'daddy was doing something positive and these plaques are what has come from my music'.
The plaque didn't come through the post, they drove it to me because it was so big and they said you are the first person to get this plaque, it's a special one, it's a platinum disc addition and I was just over the moon. It's so big and it's in my house and I'm so happy, I just look at it every day and smile.
6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?
Just be yourself, don't be afraid to be yourself. A lot of people feel they got to have the latest clothes or that they got to have a lot of money to do this, or look like this. Just be yourself, if you be yourself and always be true to yourself then I think God will pay you with whatever you need in life, just be true to yourself.
7. Are there any artists on your radar at the moment that we should check out?
Just check out my brother Sai So and Skore Beezy, Reepz, Clue, Wrecker, these are all guys that I rap with, these are guys from my camp. Guys like Perm, M24, these are all my friends, I just want the best for them, how I would want for myself.
8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?
At the moment I am listening to King Von, Fivio Foreign, Potter Payper, that's a tape I'm listening to right now and Rimzee.
9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?
I just like to be a parent, I'm a father first, I'm a family man, father, brother, so I just take care of my family.
10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?
My sweets, fizzy drink and a good set of headphones.
