Louis Seivwright ft: Ama Jane + Chef - Wonderland (Single)
Louis Seivwright shares “Wonderland”, the title track and second single from his upcoming sophomore album, due for release in 2021. Having recently branched out from his native Aberdeen, the now Glasgow-based producer is primed for a larger arena, with LP Wonderland marking his graduation into his most promising chapter yet. Underpinned by a mission statement to craft a novel sound that the industry hasn’t heard before, Wonderland sees the 23-year-old unconstrained by genre boundaries and keen to transcend his 2020 rap-heavy debut Cloud 9. The experimental ethos of previous production pioneers like James Blake, Kanye West, Billie Eilish, and Frank Ocean formed Louis’ mood board this time around – he’s listened exclusively to such artists since the creative process began in spring. Off the back of Louis’ feature on BBC Three’s new flagship music show, Tonight With Target, and a Track of the Week highlight on BBC Radio, Wonderland is already striking power chords with long-lasting reverberations both in Scotland’s music scene and beyond.
“Wonderland” is Louis’ second consecutive team-up with Greenock singer AMA Jane, following “Circles” in May - this time also with the dexterous bars of his Aberdeen peer and long-standing collaborator, rapper Chef. Louis says: “The process of making “Wonderland” was very organic. Myself and AMA Jane were in Glasgow for a photoshoot for “Circles” and Chef was also in Glasgow for a video shoot, and after both shoots, we decided to go to the studio. I was going through different beats and that one just clicked with everyone immediately. AMA had the hook down in about 10 minutes. Ideas just kept flowing throughout the room, different concepts, and ideas. The song was written in about 30 minutes, and we recorded it a month later in Aberdeen. Everyone really shines on the song. We knew it was very special when we made it.”
