Pain, suffering and anger are the triptych of emotions which have forged the forthcoming debut EP from West London-born Moroccan-Sudanese newcomer Areej. With an eclectic sound and a lyrical substance that sets her apart, it was created during a time when the storm clouds were circling and her ship was sinking.

The singer, songwriter and musician shares her evocative debut single ‘Guided’ taken from her five track opening statement EP slated for release in early 2022. The music video, directed by Areej and acclaimed director Charlie Rees of Fuego Films (George The Poet, Dan D’Lion, Fekky) sees the pair work together to unite their unique forms of storytelling.

With smart, purposeful lyrics, and an innovative production sound, ‘Guided’ is an intimate portrait of discovering those first cracks of light in a moody grey sky. "Despite being in a place of doom and gloom, which is depicted through the opening verse,” Areej explains, “the message and meaning behind my lyrics convey my gratitude for the simple and meaningful things in life."
