MF DOOM podcast series now live.

New podcast series Did I Ever Tell You The One About...MF DOOM has just gone live and first three episodes are available to hear now: mfdoompodcast.com

The podcast celebrates the life and work of MF DOOM, one of hip-hop's greatest. The in-depth series has been created with the approval of DOOM’s widow and estate and is helmed by rapper-turned-podcaster MC Serch, a childhood friend of DOOM. It also features contributions from DOOM’s friends, family and collaborators, including; Lord Jamar, Sadat X and Grand Puba of Brand Nubian, Just Blaze, Egon Alapatt (Stones Throw Records, Madlib), Tom Brown (Lex Records), DOOM’s brother Dimbaza Dumile, MF Grimm, Yasiin Bey (FKA Mos Def), Talib Kweli, and more.

The podcast coincides with the first anniversary of DOOM’s death, and is soundtracked by the late rapper and producer’s amazing music. Subsequent instalments will be made available weekly.

MC Serch's connection with MF DOOM (Daniel Dumile) stretches back to the blossoming New York hip-hop scene of the late 80’s and early 90’s - Serch's group, 3rd Bass, released Dumile's first recorded music in 1989 when a teenage Dumile, performing under the name Zev Love X, made a spotlight-stealing appearance on 3rd Bass' single, The Gas Face. Serch's subsequent endeavours include securing Nas his first record deal, then executive producing Illmatic and It Was Written.

Born in London and raised in Long Island, elusive rapper/producer MF DOOM was renowned for his intricate rhymes and signature mask. As Zev Love X, he formed the group KMD alongside his brother DJ Subroc, who was tragically killed in a hit and run accident. Dumile disappeared before resurfacing years later as MF DOOM; a mysterious, mask-wearing ‘supervillain'. Thanks to an incredible run of solo releases, collaborations and guest appearances, DOOM became a highly-influential artist and news of his death prompted an outpouring of tributes.
