ZZ The Pharaoh - Gentle Reminder To Breathe (EP)
ZZ The Pharaoh releases his latest EP ‘Gentle Reminder To Breathe’, consisting of five tracks inspired by some introspective trips overseas this summer.
Expect to see a different side to ZZ in Gentle Reminder To Breathe, a thoughtful project which showcases his signature witty wordplay and refined harmonies over smooth jazz melodies, guitar riffs and legato keys. An identity he’s touched on in ‘11:11’ and ‘Mind’ from his debut album The Conception Drive.
The first three tracks of the EP see ZZ collaborating with German producer Bastido, a master of jazz infused hip-hop beats. Kicking off with the feel good ‘Sunny Side Up’, its catchy hook will have you singing back the lyrics instantly, with effortless strings played by Florian Hausner. ‘Bottega 88’ co-produced by German based producer Stevie Wonka is a reflection of his travels, instantly transporting the listener to the shore in the sunshine, while the beautifully serene ‘Misty’ will have you closing your eyes, resetting the levels with soothing instrumentals and soft vocals.
ZZ recruits fellow member EzekielTheGod from iiiexist collective for the production of his celebratory track ‘27’, an experimental addition to the EP fusing elements of trap with an intergalactic sound. Minimal beats and thoughtful flows complete the EP with self produced ‘Rain Cheque Freestyle’, allowing us to see a stripped back and raw version of ZZ.
