‘Heaven Sent’ is the first single from UK dub producer Mali-I’s debut album ‘In Session’ coming out in Spring 2022.

The song comes off the back of the critically acclaimed ‘Fallow Tales’ EP on Turbo Guidance and remixes for the likes of Ruf Dug (Rhythm Section).

Mali-I is Mali Baden-Powell (Z Lovecraft / Rhythm Section / Monzanto Sound), 3rd Generation Windrush, named after Bob, spelt like the country.

The result of an online collaboration between Ms Ray and Mali-I, ‘Heaven Sent’ is a modern take on UK Lovers Rock, filtered through the influence of street soul and R&B. A beautifully sweet melodic vocal from Ms Ray floats on top of Mali-I’s beat, with live drums and bass from Waz Baden-Powell and Anthony Boatwright of Monzanto Sound, as well as Mali’s Dad Ed Baden-Powell (D’Influence) providing the guitar.

Formerly of experimental pop duo Gold Fir (+1 Records) and a backing vocalist for artists including Chaka Khan, Jessie Ware and Melanie C, Ms Ray – who moonlights as a DJ for Hackney’s Netil Radio – launched her solo career in 2019

For the B-Side, Mali-I has delivered a stunning dub version for the heads.
