SUNSET 18 returns with flawless new cut ‘Chanel’. CHANEL is the final track to be revealed from their three track EP.

Growing a reputation for anthemic tracks full of energy, SUNSET 18 are back with their next standout installment. Giving nod’s to their hip-hop influences, ‘Chanel’ is an ode to one of the pairs biggest goals, sharing more, they explain: “CHANEL is about a fight between the two of us. We’re fighting over a girl and discussing who wants her more. The girl is a metaphor for a grammy, so in reality we’re fighting for a chance at our dreams. We want people to feel the special dynamic between us in CHANEL!”

Last month SUNSET 18 unveiled the ultimate dose of euphoria with pop leaning single ‘Blue Chick’, released alongside a playful animated video the track resonated with many, check it out HERE. Giving a further insight, they shared “"BLUE CHICK is a feel-good pop song all about our fight over a blue chick we both desire. We’re bringing refreshing elements from the hiphop world into this uptempo summer vibe of a track. The single is the second from our upcoming EP, SUNSET 18. Check out the music video for a peak inside our adventure!"

SUNSET 18 is a collaboration between two pioneering artists and best friends, CCA Jonas and 8lanco. The pair met at school in Bergen, Norway and naturally gravitated towards each other after discovering they were both budding artists. With both artists recently turning 18 and contending with the pandemic dictating how they spent last summer, the pair wanted to write a sound-track for freedom and enjoying life the way they had planned.

CCA Jonas quickly made his mark on the industry with his lively R&B and hip-hop-inspired artistry. Already racking up over a million streams on Spotify and bagging radio support at P3 (Norway's biggest station) CCA Jonas has been making some huge early waves.

Multi Talented artist and producer 8lanco has also made a standout impression on the music industry. His passionate hands-on approach to producing led him to turn his bedroom into a studio at just 15. With a collaborative EP on its way and both nursing promising solo projects, these fledgling artists are certainly ones to watch.

Sunset 18 sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

CCA Jonas: The funny thing is; I never really related to music any other way than my mom being a little musical. I used to play soccer until I broke my knee. Luckily for me my school had just opened a studio that people could rent. I got a chance to use it a couple times with my homies just to hang out and try making songs and freestyles. I loved doing it, and I saw my potential, so I thought maybe just stick to it. And here i am.

8lanco: I’ve been enjoying music for as long as I can remember. The process of me creating music started when I was given a keyboard for my 12th birthday. I got introduced to the production side of music and eventually I would pick up the mic and record songs too!

2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?

CCA Jonas: I love creative artists like Lil Yatchy and Pharrell Williams. That's some of the biggest artists I got on my bucket list to work with. I love Kendrick too, but that would be a dream. To be honest, I've never really been looking up to someone or directly influenced by interest, other than my mom.

8lanco: Definitely Kanye West. He is a guy that has inspired and influenced me throughout my whole career. Not even only music, everything he does is just so creative and cool to me.

3. What are some of the problems you have faced making and releasing the music during the coronavirus pandemic?

CCA Jonas: I think the biggest problem for me was not being able to hit the stages. It's a common thing for everyone out here doing music, but it really hit me since the past year and a half I've been putting most weight on my live performances. Many shows to come ;)

8lanco: Cooperating. Not being able to meet with people has been difficult for most people I think, but especially for us artists where sessions and meetings are so vital. Being in lockdown personally slowed down my creativity as well, as I found it hard to be inspired in a situation like that.

4. How would you describe your sound?

CCA Jonas: My sound as of now has to be trap and newschool combined with me and Mario´s personal preferences. I'm constantly looking for a sound I can conquer and claim. Won't be telling anyone when I find it, but i will make the best music that's out there. Mark my words.

8lanco: I would describe my sound as a melodic mix between rap and pop. I’d say I’m quite versatile as well, so I’m often comfortable with expanding my sound.

5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

CCA Jonas: I was recently booked by Villvillvest, it was a  great opportunity for me when it comes down to getting publicity in the music industry. Surprisingly I ended up doing it alright, and I'm currently waiting for a response. I had a blast, it was definitely the best experience so far as an artist, and it probably will be until I meet Astrid S for the first time.

8lanco: Being signed by Made Management has been a big accomplishment for me. Also seeing myself progress as an artist over time has been great to experience.

6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?

CCA Jonas: My advice to people that want to start making music is to not release music the first year. Find your love for music and try to understand it, from there on out, play your cards smart and learn the music game.

8lanco: Make a LOT of music, build up a private catalog, and don’t think about releasing it before you feel like it’s as good as or better than the rest of the game. Your 30th song will ALWAYS be better than your first, so don’t rush into releasing your music!

7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?

CCA Jonas: Most definitely, first off I want to start with brothers i've been working with to build myself such as Salti, Laurent and of course 8lanco. Family first. I've also been listening a lot to Rohat, one of Norway's biggest up and coming artists right now. That man is insane.

8lanco: EDOT Lawrence, SALTI and Laurent are all acts out of my city that are super fire! Definitely a must to check them out:)

8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?

CCA Jonas: I've been bumping a lot of Ard Adz “Dinner for one”, Wonder The Boy “Taurus” and last but not least “Sista 12” by Aden x Asme.

8lanco: Mostly Donda to be honest:) When my favorite artist drops you won’t find me listening too much else for some months. However, I have been listening a little to Baby Keem’s “Melodic Blue” and Don Toliver’s “Life of a Don” these past few weeks.

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?

CCA Jonas: I like to hang out with my homies, maybe play some Ps4 or go out to eat. I work most of the time, as well as i'm still in highschool.

8lanco: Recently I’ve been playing a little padel tennis, which is quite fun. Other than that, I pretty much spend my time on music and school...

10. Name three things you can't live without when in the studio?

CCA Jonas: First thing has to be Caprisun, it clears your throat and makes sure you're ready to go. I always record with a poster of Astrid S in front of the mic so that has to be the second thing. Third goes to my brother and producer BBMario. Can't do nothing without him. Keeps me safe from bad production and makes sure my voice sounds fresh.

8lanco: Tea, my phone for notes and recording, and the right creative energy:)
