New single 'The Outsider’ is an anti-anthem for anyone who never fit in, sharing more Kings Elliot explained “it's for anyone who felt like they were watching a world unfold before them, separated from everyone else’s reality. There was one night in particular when I got dragged out by friends to a club… I was feeling like a pauper at the palace. I just sat and observed everything and I went home that night and started writing this song.

Finding solace in writing music, Kings Elliot has carved her own world that welcomes anyone who can relate, digging deeper, she shared: “Chaos has been ever present in my life, I’ve never known how to function differently. The songs on this EP form a world I’ve always dreamed of creating for my own escape, and now anyone who needs it can join me there too.”

Kings Elliot sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our Infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

My earliest memory of me wanting to be a ‘singer’ was in Kindergarten and I have absolutely no idea where it came from ‘cause there was definitely no one encouraging me and I didn’t have one of those miracle child voices haha! But here we are!

2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?

I’m mainly influenced by sad music from the 40s and 50s, there’s something so magical and melancholic about it, it inspires me all the time. Also I adore Julia Michaels’ songwriting, I’d love to write a song with her some day!

3. What are some of the problems you have faced making and releasing the music during the coronavirus pandemic?

I always write and produce at the same studio, with the same person, so nothing much changed for me in the creation process. But because I’ve released all my songs during the pandemic, I’ve never actually played any of the songs live anywhere, which is something I’m desperate to do!

4. How would you describe your sound?

I want my songs to sound like they’re sweeping you into another world, some beautifully tragic fantasy world with a soothing soundscape.

5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

When someone got my song lyric tattooed!

6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?

Your gut feeling is your most important guide on your journey. It’s what will make you stand out.

7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?

Yes, definitely check out Jake Wesley Rogers, Sylf, Leepa, Amy Allen!

8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?

To be honest, I currently listen to a mixture of sad songs from the 50s; people like Frank Sinatra have a special place on playlists.

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?

Spend time with my four rescue bunnies.

10. Name three things you can't live without when in the studio?

Literally my pyjamas, I cannot write a song if I’m not comfy. Other than that all I need is Lipton ice tea (lemon) and salty popcorn.
