PREMIERE: Vicky Pasion - Let Go (Single)

Soul star Vicky Pasion is a mixed-British recording artist, entrepreneur and activist who has captivated audiences on West End and international stages, including West End’s ‘The Lion King’, the 02 Academy and FIFA’s 57th World Congress in Zurich Hallenstadion.

After the independent release of her mixtape, 'Life is but a Vapour’ (2017) and her headlining performance at the Notting Hill Arts Club, Pasion released her anticipated debut EP, ‘Valley of the Ashes’ (2020). She is featured in Notion Magazine as one of the UK’s rising artists. Her single, ‘Been Like’, premiered on BBC Radio London, followed by a sold out launch at the O2 Academy.

Through her artistry, she seeks to elevate underrepresented stories around mental health, sustainability and women of colour, as seen in her features in Noctis, Mission Statement and BRICKS Magazine. With her latest release ‘HEAVY’, a socially conscious record motivated by the resurgence of Black Lives Matter, Pasion was commissioned by Arts Council England to normalise safe spaces for male vulnerability, strength and creativity.

For Vicky Pasion’s latest release, ‘Let Go’, the soul star teases angelic riffs and runs that lull you into a trance, subtly anticipating an ethereal R&B vibe to her upcoming sophomore EP.

Vicky’s conscious lyricism speaks directly to listeners’ hearts and minds, as she reimagines a deeper connection to self and others. Vicky explains: ‘Let Go’ is about coming to terms with the uncertainty of life - in light of the pandemic, I found myself reflecting on finding peace and clarity from the realisation that we cannot control everything…’ Originally written 4 years ago, and re-imagined during lockdown, ‘Let Go’ is infused with renewed meaning. Vicky uses her own personal experience from the past year and filters it into her latest track: ‘In 2020, my life was full of uncertainties. The momentum I was building up to the release of my debut EP was tangible, as I sold out the 02 Academy, moved out of my childhood home and flew out to LA - to a world of possibilities. This was literally two weeks before the world shut down because of the pandemic - some of my team immediately flew back home to London and, for a moment, I was uncertain about what to do next. I knew I was in a privileged place to trust that there was an opportunity to keep growing in LA, if I could just let go of fearful thoughts.

At that point, my daily meditation practice was strong, and helped me to slow my thoughts down enough to notice the need for community. In the middle of a storm, I began to hold safe spaces online for my closest friends as a way to support each other through an uncertain season - this grew throughout the year to what is now a community of like-minded people rooted in consciousness, creativity and compassion.

The process of letting go took me through my most challenging experiences to date - searching for a home away from home, the fear of losing loved ones and with the live music scene shut down, I learnt to go through it by leaning on close friends, working on my next project and grounding myself in the present moment. ‘Let Go’ continues to remind me to slow down and to appreciate now.” It’s undeniable that Vicky’s lush vocals and soulful lyricism continue to ripple resonate. Keep an eye out for Vicky’s documentary series that’ll be coming out in the new year! She’ll be taking you behind the scenes of her sold out EP launch at the 02 Academy, Islington last year, with a live performance of ‘Let Go’ that teases all that’s to come in the New Year.
