Queen Millz - Mill$ (Official Video) + ShadowBars (SBTV) + 10 Questions

Fresh from her performance at Eskimo Dance Halloween, fast-rising singer, songwriter and MC Queen Millz has unveiled new single ‘Mill$’, out now.

Her second single in quick succession, ‘MiLL$’ showcases Queen Millz’s effortless flow as she pairs playful lyrics with a sun-kissed, Latin-infused beat. The similarly vibrant official video, which she helped choreograph, finds her busting moves with the squad - a perfect match for the track’s energy. It follows ‘On Sight’, her recent collaboration with fellow UK rising star SBK.

“‘MiLL$’ is a song about speaking things into existence, bigging myself up for how far I’ve came, and preparing for what comes in the future,” Queen Millz explains.

The track drops after her phenomenal performance at Eskimo Dance Halloween, where Millz performed alongside JME, Shorty and Frisco.

Hailing from Leicestershire, Queen Millz’s music is an expression of the many emotions she has experienced in life, with a fluid approach to her artistry that crosses multiple genres. Combining musical talent with natural confidence, she has already collaborated with the likes of Heavytrackerz (Stormzy, Meridian Dan) and TSB (Dave, J Hus), with no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Queen Millz sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

My parents really influenced my love for music, my dad would play reggae and old school hip hop and rap and my mum would play old school r’n’b and they both share a love for jungle and drum & bass. I started writing lyrics back when I was at school, I was naughty and got kicked out a lot so when I was grounded my dad would make me write songs about what I’d done wrong and how I’d improve in the future.

2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?

I really want to work with Chris Brown, I feel like we would vibe in any genre and make the best music video! I would also like to work with Chip, he influenced my ability to spit bars and be on my grind from young.

3. What are some of the problems you have faced making and releasing the music during the corona virus pandemic?

The thing that most affected me was that I couldn’t perform for over a year. Performing is my passion and it really made a difference to my mental health.

4. How would you describe your sound?

I would say versatile and trappy, yet soulful.

5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

I performed on stage with JME Shorty and most of BBK at Eskimo Dance in Bristol recently. Was an amazing experience.

6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?

Love yourself, work hard, stay consistent and confident.

7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?

There is Amazing talent in the Midlands and I’m not afraid to shine a light on them - Sainte is from Leicester and has a melodic hip hop vibe, Phidizz & Shadow are from Nottingham, one Wavey trap, one dark side grime / drill both people to look out for.

Females are really putting in work at the moment as well, Diana Drill is also from Nottingham. Outside of the Midlands, Willow Kayne is really catching my attention, I think we would make a sick tune.

8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?

Don Toliver - Life Of a DON

Summer Walker - Still Over it

Trippie Redd - A Love Letter 2 You 4

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?

I like to play Fortnite on Xbox, and spend time with family and friends.

10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?

A Topic, Good Vibes and a bad boy beat.
