10 Questions – Dylan Williams

Introducing South London rapper and model (as seen with ASOS and River Island, no less) Dylan Williams. After bursting onto the scene back in 2016 with his debut single Changes – from his debut album Drip in the same year – he’s accrued over a million streams along with a flurry of singles garnering him a lot of attention. In a similar lane to A2 and Kojey Radical and arguably as prolific, he’s dropped the incredibly catchy Good Girls. Ahead of his forthcoming album, Sunday Soul, due to drop in April, Wordplay caught up with Dylan for some quick-fire questions…

1. Contestant, what’s your name, chosen craft and where are you based?

Dylan Williams, South London; Norbury to be precise and I’m a rapper/songwriter

2. How would you describe your sound?

I always struggle with this. I just tell my truth over sound.

3. Who/what do you consider to be the biggest influence on your music?

My 28 years of life is my biggest influence, I struggle with expressing myself at times. So I write it down and let everyone know exactly what I’ve been thinking and currently going  through. Majority of the time it’s things I wouldn’t tell anyone directly or when I do listen back back I worry that I might’ve been a little too open but I can’t hide from my reality.

4. What’s the proudest moment to date for you as an artist?

Probably, hearing myself on radio whilst sitting in the front room with my mum.

5. Do you have any advice for our readers who are maybe trying to play the mad game of music?

I’d say forever be a student to the game. Always put yourself first and follow your gut. There’s no right or wrong as a creative. It’s your art.

6. Name 3 people you would love to work with and why?

This hasn’t changed I think I’d work well with A2, Kano & Wretch 32 I probably listen to all three on rotation.

7. What have you got planned for the not so distant future?

Release more music and visuals and continue to water my plant  and watch it grow.

8. What’s the album you’ve played more than any other?

Drake – Nothing Was The Same

9. What’s the best concert you’ve been to and where was it?

Probably WizKid at The Royal Albert Hall. I can’t remember the exact year or date but I remember thinking that he knew how to control the crowd.

10. Name three things you can’t live without?

Headphones, Phone & My sanity lol!

Follow Dylan for the latest news and releases, Good Girls is available to stream now and be sure to keep an ear out for Soul Sundays which is dropping this April.
