Hailing from Bristol is producer Dom Porter formerly known as Outhouse, with his debut EP ‘Seasons’. It’s a collaborative body of work with London based vocalist Violet Jones and the EP also features the likes of [K S R] and Mercy’s Cartel.

Kicking off the EP is the oozing track ‘Honey’ it’s absolutely delicious. With a slight funk hint in the instrumentation mixed with contemporary R&B. Jones vocals warm and smooth with the beautiful falsetto call and respond moments, emulating a breathing rhythm or heartbeat. I believe the funk element of the track will make this timeless broadening their audience. It’s definitely one for the lovers and we all love a slow-jam.

Next up is ‘Blinds’ starting with dreamy-like instrumentation it felt quite nostalgic and reminded me of the movie The Never Ending Story. Lyrically sounds like playing out a fantasy and I believe the instrumentation does lend to this very well. ‘Sold me dreams’ as I believe he is slowly falling for someone who might not quite feel the same way that he does, possibly experiencing some unrequited love.

Following this is ‘Trust’ captures your attention right from the onset with harmonies and beautiful effects that Dom has used on Jones’ voice, giving quite a sensual vibe. Just a presumption but I believe Jones and Dom might be Frank Ocean fans as I hear a mention of the lyric ‘bad religion’.

‘I had everything I wanted, I deserve to be broken’ with this lyric with the emphasis on the word ‘had’ I believe the trust in the relationship has dissipated. We float through this track and then right at the end the pace picks up, this really does show off Dom’s versatilely. This was unexpected but a wonderful surprise for the fans, makes you want to replay the track.

Next up is ‘Burden’ Dom mixes a concoction of electronic, R&B and a dash of soul together with airy vocals from Jones. Mercy's Cartel is introduced with beautiful harmonies blending effortlessly with Jones. Demonstrating a response to Jones lyrics her runs, absolutely stunning.

Ending the track is [K S R] and I noticed in my headphones the bounced back panning from left to right Dom has done, I absolutely love it. I actually had to rewind it back to make sure I could really take it in.

At first I thought they might have been singing about commitment issues. Then I caught the lyrics near the end 'She can do better, better than him' so maybe there is a love triangle that is going on here which is causing hindrance. A certain level of wanting but not having also comes mind during this song.

You can definitely appreciate the way this track dynamically shifts. I love the way the track ends with everyone involved with carefully places runs. I am here for it.

The last track ends with 'Timing' giving us modern synths mixed with a funky bass line this track has an uplifting feel. The simple repetitive hook this is one that will definitely get stuck in your head and definitely one to sing-along to. The lyric 'There’s no room for haste' the recognition that taking things at a slow pace might be the best way forward. They have time and there's no need to rush. Live in the moment and take in the little things like 'the smile across your face'.

Spoken at the end 'They are all lessons and they help you grow but it’s how you deal with them'. Completely agree with that statement there are things that come to test us in life good and bad. You have to decide what to give your energy to.
