North London producer Flyo is one of the most respected young producers in the game, following work with the UK OG’s of rap talent Giggs, Skepta and Skrapz, Flyo continues to make waves as an underground heavyweight with the likes of Youngs Teflon and Master Peace, cementing his credentials as one of the most versatile and innovative beat makers in the city right now.

Flyo sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

There wasn’t really an even that sparked my love for music be honest, sounds cheesy but as long as I remember I’ve loved music. From young it was always football and music.

2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?

Artists that have influenced me would be Havoc from Mobb Deep, Alchemist, Dr Dre, Zaytoven, Dj Quik, Daz Dillinger, Cardo…I could honestly be here all day but that’s just a few. Would love to work with all of them as well.

3. What are some of the problems you have faced making and releasing the music during the coronavirus pandemic?

To be honest there hasn’t been too many issues with making music during lockdown. I’ve been making beats at home and most people nowadays have a setup at home, so it’s just been a case of sending beats to people and them sorting it out on their end.

4. How would you describe your sound?

My sound’s Supafly haha.

5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

I’d say my proudest moment is between getting my song FBG with Suspect on GTA 5 courtesy of blonded radio…shouts out DJ Vegan. Or would be performing FBG at Wireless in Finsbury Park as that’s my area.

Don’t box yourself in to any sound, make whatever you wanna’ make at that time. And don’t overthink things.

7. Are there any artists on your radar at the moment that we should check out?

Payroll Giovanni, Larry June, Pooh Shiesty, Big 30.

8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?

I been listening to Thundercat’s last two albums “Drunk” & “it is what it is” a lot recently, also Doe Boys album “Streets Need Me” Payroll Giovanni’s albums “Big Bossin 2” and “Another Day Another Dollar” There’s loads others but I’ve been flicking through a lot of different albums and songs to be honest.

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?

When I’m not making music more times I'm exercising or just chilling, might play a bit of COD, but I feel like I'm almost always making music to be honest lol.

10. Name Three things you can't live without when you’re in the studio?

Water, some sweets too but, not too many lol, and I’d say my phone, just for when an artist might be writing a verse you need something to do.
