Blxst - 10 Questions
Blxst began his solo music career in Los Angeles in 2012, writing and producing his own sound. With a number of notable productions and collaborations under his belt, Blxst has gained much acclaim for his work with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, DJ Mustard and YG to name a few.
Teaming up with Red Bull Records, Blxst debuted his highly-anticipated debut EP No Love Lost - an expansive and emotive collection of music inspired by past relationships and his hometown of LA.
Blxst sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:
1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?
I feel it was always in my DNA, music has always been in my household. My sister and my uncle were heavily invested into the art of hip hop.
2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?
Artist who influence me and that I want to work with are Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Ryan Leslie, DJ Quick. Mostly people who produce as well.
3. What are some of the problems you have faced making and releasing the music during the corona virus pandemic?
One of the problems I face is not being able to tour and touch my fans.
4. How would you describe your sound?
I would describe my sound as a melodic west coast vibe.
5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?
My proudest moment so far was Seeing my billboard in the neighbourhood I grew up in.
6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?
My advice would be, believe in yourself even when no one else does.
7. Are there any artists on your radar at the moment that we should check out?
Definitely check out Bino Rideaux
8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?
Snoh Aalegra’s Ugh, Those Feels Again.
9. What do you like to do when your not making music?
When I’m not making music I like to shoe shop and graphic design.
10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?
Three things I can’t live without in the studio are water, my phone, good energy.
