UNX - 10 Questions + Dutty (Single)

Midlands rapper and online personality UNX has unveiled his new single ‘Dutty’.

His first release of the new year,  ‘Dutty’ is a no-holds-barred single that combines menacing production with UNX’s hard-hitting flow and lucid wordplay. It marks the follow-up to acclaimed debut EP ‘Three Eleven’, which included lead single ‘Endless’, a viral track that has racked up more than 1 million YouTube views and 550,000 Spotify streams to date.

Born and bred in the Midlands town of Dudley, UNX brings his own unique touch to the current UK music scene. Already a huge hit with millions of followers in the creative world as Uncle Romell, UNX is a more intimate outlet for the authentic story and life experiences of this young British talent.

UNX sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

I loved music from an early age, my big brother listening to Tupac and wu tang clan really got my love for American hip hop. I also used to sing at my nans church HAHA. I never considered myself to have the capacity to create it myself until recently. But I love challenging myself to try new things and I love poetry.

2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?

When it comes to English hiphop I'd say skepta's the goat, but Tyler the creator really influenced my life in general. There's so many artist I'd love to work with from Kojey radical to Isaiah Rashad that's me being overly ambitious AHAHHA

3. What are some of the problems you have faced making and releasing the music during the coronavirus pandemic?

To be honest, away from what I do normally, being in self isolation is what really made me knuckle down into music. I think it's just me trying to take advantage of a bad situation.

4. How would you describe your sound?

My sound is still very, how should I say, in a growth stage. Despite releasing music I'm still learning, but dabbling between head bangers and conscious rap vibes is what I want.

5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

Just releasing my first song and seeing it on streaming platforms. I can't describe how it made me feel, and my big brother texting me saying he loved it. Right in the feels I can't lie.

6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?

Give advice? Me? Are you sure? Hahahah na one thing I would say is there is no wrong answer in music, everything is subjective. So what you may think is ridiculous, it really isn't.

7. Are there any artists on your radar at the moment that we should check out?

Right now kojey radical and Chester Watson, I've been bumping for the last 2 months and I've been keeping it casual with flume Santi and Brandon Jones.

8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?

Mick Jenkins- pieces of a broken man and damn by Kendrick Lamar is a non skippable. I have to give respect to Jhus's album big conspiracy I have so many hahaha ...

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?

When not making music I just love creating. So whether it be fashion or working out as I love fitness that's why I'm about. I'm also a massive anime fan.

10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?

Hmmmm

1. Bottle of water

2. Anime in the back ground reminds me of my childhood

3. Vibes... without vibes you can't create
