As you may have heard, it’s International Women’s Day today and we are definitely all for it. Here at Wordplay though we believe that championing new music and advocating gender equality in the industry should be an all-year outlook. We pride ourselves on promoting creative endeavours in an egalitarian way at every point, from production to collaboration, performance to promotion. As part of IWD we feel it’s important to reiterate this as well as highlight some women who’re making some serious nosie in the industry…

Arlo Parks burst onto the scene with her hauntingly beautiful songs – which proved immensely popular soundtracks for last year’s uncertain times – such as ‘Black Dog’ and ‘Eugene’ amongst others in the run up to the astounding ‘Collapsed In Sunbeams’ album. Her signature bittersweet songwriting and lyrical impetus has been pure musical escapism for many people – garnering a huge 3.3m monthly listeners on Spotify and a huge amount of media coverage, including Wordplay! Arlo Parks is our cover artist for our latest issue with an in-depth interview and stellar photos.
