Elegy - Flurry (Official Video)

Elegy drops his debut single “Flurry” along with the new video.

Elegy wanted his debut piece to really be something special that would stand out from the current UK rap scene, even if that meant he’d be less accepted or criticised more. To him, it was paramount to be true to himself and real. Elegy spent more than three months writing Flurry. It was written in around a month but then he spent another two replacing words, tweaking and switching around verses, as well as changing the cadence and pronunciation of certain words to give more emphasis on certain alternate meanings. He wanted to create something with a large number of double-entendres that could be perceived in different ways to show that he was really cut from a different cloth to your average rapper. It was important to Elegy to do all of this in his debut piece, and aim to keep the same consistency and pace with all his upcoming projects. The video was shot by videographer. Louis James-Parker.

The name ‘Flurry’, meaning a sudden, short period of activity/excitement/interest reflects the nature of the production process, which saw Elegy going from not rapping at all to suddenly putting over 200 hours into making a single carefully constructed lyrically intense song, and it also reflects the speed of the rapping involved, which he recorded in one take.

At 23 years old, hailing from Cambridgeshire, Elegy debuted early April 2021 with Flurry, with a real drive to produce very different rap music. He was inspired a lot by, and is a big fan of the late Mac Miller as well as UK artists such as Kano, Chip, Nines, Cadet, and Avelino. You can expect to see a lot more coming from Elegy’s direction, so watch this space.
