Hailing from Lagos, Nigeria, artist Black Hibiscus shares the new single "Matthew". Teaming up with Anna Fix, the track is a delicate indie single fuelled by the forthcoming absence of a friend. Released via independent label DOLO, "Matthew" is a spiritually invigorating moment of eery but soothing harmonic bliss.

Drawing on inspiration from King Krule, Black Hibiscus creates expansive soundscapes using delays and reverbs to produce compelling, dynamic spaces. With underlying dark guitar tones and a moody piano sequence, the track effuses a sentimental narrative that hooks you in with the pairs' contrasting vocals.

"The song is an ode to a friend that is gone," he explains. "In real life my best friend Matthew is leaving for a year, and I may never live with him again, so in a way it is a goodbye to him but in the song the fictional character "Matthew" dies and leaves the singer un-whole so I hope the song evokes a feeling of longing and heartbreak at the loss of someone important to you."
