South Coast Ghosts - Little Birdy (Single)

Little Birdy’ is the debut single from South Coast Ghosts and puts on an eclectic show of soulful sounds. John Hicks’ nostalgia-drenched vocals float over the top of jazzy piano riffs and crisp drums whilst Diamondback Kid and Tommy Brown trade energetic verses filled with intricate rhyme schemes. Georgie doubles up with Diamond on the smooth chorus and Teddy Trumpet’s flourishes push the track’s melancholic mood throughout. Groovy guitars are provided by Fugitive Orchestra and Dan Barrow handles the bass with fluidity and precision. The song as a whole encourages us to 'fly the nest' but not before taking stock of the freedoms we already have.

Straight out of Portsmouth and the surrounding areas comes a collective of independent rappers, musicians and singer/songwriters collaborating under the name ‘South Coast Ghosts’. Creating tracks that lend themselves to a variety of genres - Rap, Hip-Hop, Soul, Rock and Jazz - the result is a rich array of hard-hitting sounds full of live instrumentation and perceptive lyricism. Made up of both up and coming and more established artists, the Ghosts are the sum of their parts and illustrate what collaboration in the community can achieve.
