A mere hint at the versatility of his talents, the smooth new offering is the second instalment from his upcoming project ‘Sapphire Alley’ due to be released in September, 2021. ‘Relay’ once again showcases his sublime contemporary take on a classic sound. Abundant with soul-infected hooks and his syrupy-vocal that feels like the lovechild of Prince and Kendrick Lamar. ‘Relay’ is about relinquishing worries that have been weighing on your mind, body and soul so you can be free to be in the moment.

“It started as a simple four-on-the-floor beat which later evolved into an old-school RnB type beat with lots of percussion and the production focused around creating a nice soundscape with tropical textures and cute reverbs.” explains Sam. “The lyrics touch on subjects like weariness and the feelings of when all you care about in the moment is not having to deal with your worries.”
