The beloved Australian jazz-funk giants Hiatus Kaiyote have released the third single from their upcoming third LP, Mood Valiant. The first two singles, ‘Get Sun’ and ‘Red Room’, were both extremely well received by fans, and Hiatus Kaiyote have delivered another single to keep fans excited ahead of the full album release.

Nai Palm, lead vocalist of the band, spoke about the creative process for ‘Chivalry Is Not Dead’:

“After we did Choose Your Weapon, we had to make radio edits of our songs, and all of our shit is like 6 or 7 minutes long! So ‘Chivalry’ was me fucking with the ‘hit record’ formula. I’m gonna write a song that's 3:40 long, and it’s about sex, but I’m gonna make it fucking weird. Examples from the natural world that are fucking with the status quo.”

Musically, ‘Chivalry Is Not Dead’ sees Hiatus Kaiyote move away from the subtle elegance of ‘Red Room’ to embark on something funkier and more explosive. Between walls of bright electronics, high-powered basslines and the climax of Nai Palm’s vocals, ‘Chivalry Is Not Dead’ sounds like exhilarating new sonic territory for Hiatus Kaiyote.
