Shay D ft: Lioness & Dibo - Best Shot (Single)

UK rappers Shay D, Lioness and Dibo have linked up on new single ‘Best Shot’, out today.

Propelled by a cold, eerie beat produced by Birmingham’s A Class, ‘Best Shot’ sees the three lyrical talents trade lucid, hard-hitting verses amidst gunshot samples and punchy trap snares. It marks Shay D’s second single release in quick succession, following on from last month’s ‘Slice Of Pie’ featuring grime legend P Money, a track that drew support from BBC Radio 1’s Tiffany Calver, BBC Radio 1XTRA’s Sir Spyro and KISS FM’s Rudekid. As well as, NTS Radio, Clash Magazine and Mixtape Madness. Both will feature on her forthcoming album Speaking In Tongues.

“Rap as a genre for me has always meant rhythm and poetry, and poetry for me is always my deepest form of expression,” Shay D explains. “Best shot is when being vulnerable means you are at your strongest. When your fears, late night thoughts and anxieties that could consume you, but you don’t let it win and fight through it, keep focused on your game that’s ‘Best Shot’. A Class gave me such a haunting beat, and it made me emotional, I just wanted to be honest on it.

She continues: “Dibo and Lioness were part of my tour, I respect them both as lyricists, so I wanted to invite them on this project with me. Lioness blew me away with her verse, so emotional, and Dibo’s honesty and delivery was the reason I wanted her to be on the song. I thought having three strong women on a song, from different genres of the scene would be so powerful and that is exactly what happened. ‘Best Shot’ is a cold tune!”
