Third Quarter - No Bricks (EP)
Third Quarter is proud to present his debut project – No Bricks EP. Having teased the world with some tantalising singles (What You Listen To, Ready for the Maker) and guest features (Hypnotic, G.H.0.S.T), the Kings Lynn MC is now set to officially make his mark on the ever-burgeoning UK scene with an EP that serves as the perfect showcase for his style and sound.
That style is firmly rooted in the boom bap school of hip hop, garnished with infectious hooks and mesmerising wordplay. For evidence of this, look no further than the No Bricks EP, which sees him uniting with fellow Norfolk resident, Lola Lies, who joins Third Quarter at the helm for the production throughout.
The EP kicks off with the obscenely laid-back, Undone, a track which also perfectly rejuvenates the dying art of scratching. Jazz horns provide the driving force on Spinners & Losers, with Third Quarter’s bars drenched in both melody and entertainment, before the staccato rhythm of Insane bursts through and offers up the only guest spots on the project, courtesy of Sleep’s Cousin and J Luciano. The EP draws to a close with the anthemic Shit Day, a paradox of sorts thanks to the upbeat vibe of the production, complete with whistling intro, as Third Quarter’s flow switches up seamlessly.
