Are you ready for a BOP?! Haling from Manchester is singer-songwriter DanDan with his latest single ‘ What Did You Do?’

The lyrics whilst focusing on heartbreak, the beat is hypnotic with atmospheric soundscapes with soulful vocals. The chorus stunning ad-libs and harmonies a delicious blend of R&B and pop, I can imagine people in a club moving in slow motion when I hear this song.

A snapshot of a moment - finding out the love of your life has been cheating on you. DanDan stated that “This song was a form of therapy for me, and for a friend. One of my best friends Charlotte is convinced she’s my muse! And so, I decided I would prove her right and use our shared experiences as a musical release for the both of us. Unfortunately a lot of us know what it’s like to be cheated on and with this song I want to shine a light on the effect cheating has on the one being cheated on.” Pulling directly from both Charlotte’s experiences and his own “What Did You Do?” was born. It talks about those initial stages of finding out that you’ve been cheated on and the conversation that is had between you and your partner in those dark and intimate moments.

To make this release just that bit more special DanDan has decided to release his first ever music video. Working with Con Divers (@expandinguniverses on Instagram) and their amazing team DanDan was able to bring his simple and sophisticated vision to life. This visual represents the illumination of things that have been hidden. Red, Yellow and Green - the three colours usually seen in traffic lights have been used to represent the ebb and flow of a tumultuous conversation such as the one being described in this song. The video ends in near darkness to represent the hollow and empty feeling that is left behind when a relationship breaks down in this way.
