chuala - FMR (Single)

CHUALA the emerging multi-faceted artist releases her new single “FMR”. After the release of “wake up!”, she is returning with a sensual single that asserts her sexual desires.

“FMR” was written and produced by CHUALA as her first explicit mention of sexual fantasy through the lens of female empowerment. Sounding like a blurry fever dream of ecstasy, CHUALA seduces her audience with a raw and rhythmic single that builds anticipation before a climax of vocals and percussion. 

Speaking on the track:
“I think it’s still a taboo for women to be assertive in their sexuality and clearly communicate their desires without being shamed or labelled as a hoe”. The single aims to address sexual promiscuity as a means for thriving, channelling passions consent and communications.

The brute sounds of the electric guitar and the diffuse-drifting percussion charts the process of CHUALA finding clear and definite words to describe her sexual experience. The fluid layering of vocals ranges from an intimate whisper to full-on projection and vibrant yet nostalgic visuals, appeals to the seductive reverie of wider audiences.

The video was shot in two century old brothels in Berlin, that transcends the legend of famous rockstars and musicians who had left their footprints in the very space that it was filmed. “I could feel the energy of the room transforming me into the unapologetic persona depicted in the visual”. 

“FMR” comes as the second and final instalment in the lead up to CHUALA’s EP “me and chu”, out this July 30th. Her lead single “wake up!” was quick to excite tastemakers across the globe including Berlin’s very own Colors resonating with the unique genre-bending sonic CHUALA is carving into the current soundscape and we can’t wait to hear more from her.
