MEI - Happy Man (Official Video)

Off the back of an early first play from BBC Introducing, "Happy Man" is the next release from London-based vocalist, songwriter, producer and bassist MEI. Taken from her forthcoming EP, the single ignites a spark within the artist's songwriting - it's both written and produced by herself, working alongside fellow female musicians to create an all-female team - and is an honest telling of a personal journey into the power of finding peace.

Woven with MEI's familiar bass lines, the single navigates through a soundscape of slow, textured beats and elegant melodies. Layered with a delicate horn arrangement from Cassie Kinoshi and MEI's soft, healing vocals, "Happy Man" is a single injected with heartfelt emotion and heavy thought. Written from a place of acceptance, "Happy Man" captures the reflection of coming to terms with a relationship ending, whether that's with someone romantically, within a friendship or with a family member. By wishing that person the best, the track acknowledges their forthcoming absence and begins to embrace the first steps of moving on.

"This song is straight from the deepest part of my heart to whoever has reached a place of acceptance after losing someone," explains MEI. "I’m really grateful to the incredibly talented women that helped me bring this song to life with their gifts. I hope it moves you.”
