PREMIERE: Chris RL ft: Sheldlyte + Ranui Marz - Im On My Way (Official Video)

This song was initially supposed to be on Chris’s Debut EP titled Guidance, which releases mid September. Guidance pays homage to Chris's spiritual journey in recovery and is an ode to his higher self. However, this is the one song that didn't make the project.

The video was shot and directed by SLPWD, featuring 35mm stills from Tevita. All done in one day, this music video was approached with an attitude of making do with what they have. They didn't want any fancy cuts or transitions. Just the simple idea that some shots should be shot at half speed. This was to convey a theme that suggests they may be moving slowly but still on point, and when others perceive the journey they may be able to see the progress we cant.

With “Im on my wayChris RL has featured rappers SHEDLYTE, Ranui Marz, And super producer SSU to create a song that honours progress. It's about looking at where we’ve all come from, remaining present, but also glancing to the future, and being grateful that we’re all on our way to where we want to be.

Chris speaks of balance, and a sense of equity. Handing things over, and letting go of that which he can not control. A big part of his journey is acknowledging the empowerment his Polynesian friends have on him. Aware of his privilege and his position, Chris tries to use his privilege to kick the door down with his hustle, and the sale of physical merch. The video will have ads running before and after to send viewers to his digital store.

Shedlyte are a Mangere born and raised Rap duo. Nate The Skippa brings his rough tone to the chorus singing about the tough times that helped polish him. The other half of Shedlyte is Cormic. He raps about understanding his worth and the worth of his family and his crew.

Ranui Marz is a rapper from Ranui, Who writes about the struggles he endures as a Maori on colonised land. Marz is direct and strait forward, often using cliche stereotypes of how his people are negatively perceived in order to juxtapoz the truth. Mars really brings the track home and assertively lets everyone know him, or anyone else on this song won't be easy to get rid of.
