Violentlyill - The Iconoclast (Album)

Violentlyill has returned with his most intricate project to date, and it’s one to add to your vinyl collection. This 17 track L.P. familiarises distorted jazz samples, spliced with retro radio voice overs, to create a rounded world of instrumental conversation. ‘The Iconoclast’ has themes that explore the corruption of “square-thinking” into a musical voyage of counterculture sampledelia.

The album begins with palette cleansers that bring you above the clouds, songs like ‘Unstable’ and ‘Vividly’ playing with the ideas of time and memory with such rich instrumentation that it’s impossible not to get lost as you enter these depths of immersive sound.

‘The Iconoclast’ continues to build atmospheric dialogue with perception-warping manipulations of sound, combined with soulful rhythmic turns and head-knocking drums. This project has an audacious yet integral approach to conformity, as the tracks weave from notes of a cheery, nuclear setting to an eerie nuclear winter, only to be resurrected into pulsating grooves that are full of technicolour.
