Indira May - Simpler Things (EP)
UK singer-songwriter Indira May has unveiled her debut EP ‘Simpler Things’.
A five-track release, ‘Simpler Things’ opens with Indira’s recent single ‘Mama Said’, a soul-drenched ballad, that sees her tap into her trademark soul-and-jazz-infused sound as she draws inspiration from the life lessons imbued by her mother. Then there is ‘When I Hear The Music’, a seductive ballad that draws on elements of jazz and soul to deliver the message of dancing and feeling free-spirited. The title track comes next, a smooth, jazz-inflected jam that sets the tone. Followed by the intimate track B Side which continues the theme of a slow and sultry sentiment, and closing things out, is the irresistible funk of ‘Losing Game’, with Indira’s head-turning vocals taking centre stage again, which has been featured on Spotify’s ‘New Music Friday’ playlist.
“This EP is named after the title track ‘Simpler Things,’” Indira explains. “It promotes the idea of returning back to your inner self, stripping things back and using creativity as a tool to feel grounded when the world feels a little overwhelming. It touches on climate change, politics and becoming a woman.”
