Dexter - I Do Love A Good Sandwich (EP) + Still Got Time (Official Video)

South West London’s dexter releases her debut EP I Do Love a Good Sandwich , sharing new highlight track ‘Still Got Time’, out now on Common Knowledge via AWAL. The release includes recent singles ‘Blue Skies’ and ‘I Like Me’, which saw Pigeons & Planes describe dexter as “an incredibly gifted songwriter”, and picked up fast praise from the likes of NME, DIY, Clash, The Line of Best Fit, Dummy and Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1. The EP is completed by another new track ‘Not The One For Me’, and features cover artwork created by London artist Slawn, whose fans extend to the likes of Skepta and Virgil.

Of new lead single ‘Still Got Time’, dexter comments “This song is the second song I ever wrote and I made it in the first lockdown last year. It’s about my relationship with my dad which I don’t talk about that often and although the lyrics aren’t the happiest I still wanted to sound a bit fun and upbeat. I really like it cos it’s like a slight mixture of talking-singing and normal singing . It sounds quite summery which was intentional and I LOVE IT.”

The I Do Love a Good Sandwich represents a natural progression for dexter, aided by the recent acquisition of a MacBook and her first vocal mic, as well as sessions with local producers including Dom Valentino. Dexter has been in the final throes of her A Levels whilst preparing for her EP’s release and comments, “I chose the name I Do Love A Good Sandwich because I like sandwiches, you can never go wrong with a good sandwich. It doesn’t mean anything deep, I literally just like sandwiches!
