British singer / songwriter Gabriela Eva returns with a unique hybrid sound that sits somewhere between electronica, hip hop, soul jazz and alt pop, with influences ranging from Nina Simone to Bonobo to Lianne La Havas.
‘Feng Shui’ a warm sun-tinged track with effortless vocals, funky guitars, delicious bass-line, intricate and interesting rhythms portrayed throughout. Her lyrics poignant covering a few different themes as she takes us on her journey. Her lyrics ‘overworked and under-paid’ rings true and relates to many of us in our current situations.
New self-released single ‘Feng Shui’ takes inspiration from Chinese philosophy, in which Feng Shui and Astronomy were used to find correlations between humanity and the universe. This is turned into a metaphor for balance and a strong personal compass. Drawn from Gabriela Eva’s personal experience of finding her own way, it’s a powerful and searing meditation on a mind cast adrift and forced to make its own way amidst the noise.
Gabriela grew up in the Essex countryside, inspired by her mother and historic strong female singers, teaching a young enthusiastic Artist to express herself and to develop a distinctive sound.
As a dyslexic, she often found herself outside the narrow box of the curriculum. Music, with its unbridled freedom, empowered her to carve her own path, teaching herself guitar and exploring the arts.
Today Gabriela’s mission is to celebrate and advocate for neurodiversity, instructing others on the creative power of music to unlock the potential of everyone, with no one left behind.
Gabriela Eva started her music career playing gigs on the circuit in London, and has carved out an extensive touring schedule from humble beginnings and performed internationally in Shanghai, Central America, Asia and across Europe.
