Fazer - Grenadier (Official Video)

Munich’s kosmische-jazz band FAZER have shared their first single and video on new label home City Slang (Caribou, Gold Panda, Hauschka). “Grenadier” is a perfect introduction to the FAZER universe. Moving freely between composition and improvisation, the band’s spacious, organic sound pitches lyrical melodies from guitar and trumpet over dual-drummer polyrhythmic grooves and dub-like basslines with a distinct Ethio-Jazz influence.

The release of “Grenadier” comes alongside a wonderfully abstract music video that evokes the dream-like feel of Twin Peaks; the protagonist finds herself attacked by what seemed a friendly encounter and the chase that follows fits perfectly oddly with the post-rock infused jazz sound of the band.
