Feux + Xadi - Noctis (Official Video) + 10 Questions
’Noctis’ showcases the pairs chemistry from Xadi's fluid delivery to Feux’s ethereal melodies, creating a refreshing blend of contemporary and old school hip-hop. The eerie production enhances the dark-narrative behind the Tommy Chadwick-directed video.
Feux has become a major player amongst the UK’s underground Alt-Hip-Hop scene alongside the likes of Finn Foxell, and Ashbeck. His inventive approach to creativity has unlocked opportunities in the burgeoning London scene including modelling for Vented and a cameo in NiNE8 Collective’s ‘LUV U DO’ video.
Off the back of his recent EP ‘Dubious’ Feux went on to land a top 3 spot in the 2021 Prospect 100 competition narrowly losing out to 5EB. Amongst various collaborations and performances Feux is set to support Harvey Gunn and Frankie Stew later this month.
Feux sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:
1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?
The thought of having a blank canvas, knowing infinite opportunities and sounds, feelings and landscapes could be created and emi=ed through music. When I realised that, I knew that this was my purpose.
2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?
A lot of musical artists influence me but I get a lot of inspiration through other creative mediums like, painting, reading, and cinematography. If I had to choose a musical artist that inspires me a lot I would say Bob Marley.
3. What are some of the problems you have faced making and releasing the music during the corona virus pandemic?
The complete lack of real life connection with other people, there would be a whole lot of Face:me and not much interaction. I’m more of an in person creative but with that being said Face:me sessions weren’t too bad, managed to get a couple projects done on that way...
4. How would you describe your sound?
‘Feux’.
5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?
I’ve had many proud moments and its quite hard to choose one but selling out my merch in 20 mins was pretty damn crazy!
6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music
Yes, have good people around you, always know that you have a lot to learn, and remember anything is possible if you put your mind to it.
7. Are there any artists on your radar at the moment that we should check out?
Definitely, been bumpin’ Master Soul Boy recently.
8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?
CMIYGL, Circles, Stillness in Wonderland.
9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?
I stay as healthy and active as possible, see the people I want to see, do what I want to do, then get back to work.
10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?
Water, good lighting, a window.
