Hak Baker - Cool Kids (Official Video)

East-London wordsmith Hak Baker returns with a poignant new track and supporting video named ‘Cool Kids’.

The track, produced by Subculture, is the lead single from a forthcoming EP project set for release later this year. It sees Hak tackle societal pressures as he shines a light on the challenges he faced growing up in London, with his authentic storytelling ability exploring the temptations faced for many teens today.  Speaking of the track, Hak explains “Cool Kids is about that same story we see up and down the country. Short-term goals syndrome. When your dreams are unspoken of, what else have you got?"

Calling on Will Robson-Scott for it’s gritty music video, shots of Hak switch between a teenager who’s navigating this desire for a better lifestyle and the turmoil that comes with it. The video is steeped in realism as Hak’s melancholic vocals are backed by a distinctly British electronic sound that’s reminiscent of early material from The Streets. A lived social commentary, ‘Cool Kids’ is another raw offering from the 26 year old musician as his observational songwriting continues to shine through.

Director Will Robson-Scott adds: "Cool Kids is an extension of the previous work me and Hak have made. I wanted to try to tell a narrative but ground it in a camera technique. Hak and I spoke about important locations in the Isle Of Dogs which became a character within itself."
