Strama - Milk and Honey (Single)
22 year old artist, songwriter and producer Strama boldly begins 2022 with her modern Jazz-inspired/alternative RnB single ‘Milk and Honey’, where challenging themes of death and grief resonate; ultimately accepting the passing of life.
Alongside the Brazilian inspired rhythms and rich harmony, the London-based storyteller hypnotises listeners with her impressive penmanship and silky vocal tones. Amongst this nostalgic combination of summer bliss and winter blues, the musician adds:
“Given the times, it can be difficult to speak about grief. It’s very personal and confrontational, but I hope people find comfort in the song during their own different stages of sorrow.”
“I’ve always loved Latin American Jazz, and more specifically Brazilian Bossa nova music. I grew up listening to João Gilberto and Astrud Gilberto religiously. There’s a special intimacy and warmth this kind of music draws out that you don’t often find elsewhere.”
“I’m excited to become part of the new wave of women contributing their creativity in the music industry. Producers like Kamille are killing it right now and I hope more women are encouraged to be heard and seen, especially since gender minorities are so under-represented. I will say though, I’m not a fan of the label ‘female’ producer - it can suggest there’s a difference in ability and skill between genders when there obviously isn’t. I'm just a producer, like everyone else.”
