BUSHROD - Overtime (Official Video)
Sowing the seeds for what looks set to be a breakthrough 2022, alternative hip-hop artist BUSHROD has returned his introspective new single “Overtime”, a radiant, funk-infused ode to getting fired from his day job during the pandemic.
The quintessentially British wordsmith has made strides in recent months, amassing a cult following thanks to his timeless, pastel-powered aesthetics and his penchant for blurring the lines between rap, hip-hop and indie pop.
Equipped with a DIY sensibility, a razor-sharp wit and an arsenal of technically deft, yet refreshingly relatable lyrics, the Banbury-born singer and rapper has already charmed the likes of The Independent, Complex, and Barbour with his latest releases, and even went viral on Depop Drama with his unconventional approach to music marketing. “Overtime”, is the latest in a string of singles from the emergent star, and serves as a prime example of his genre-defying sound in full effect.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, BUSHROD explains: ‘’The record stems from an experience I had last year where my boss fired me from my office job. I was stuck in this predicament where I didn’t know what to do. Did I look for another job or concentrate on pursuing a music career full-time? I went with the latter, and it’s gradually been paying off’’.
