Amethyst - Get Comfortable (Single)

Following the success of previous singles “Can’t Let Go” and “Up All Night”, rising R&B/Soul artist Amethyst is back with the release of her title track single from the debut EP “Get Comfortable”.

Co-written by the star and long term friend Ted Hayes, the single offers up an intricate narrative crafted both lyrically and sonically. With masterful production from Jordan Timms and Max Smith, creatives who have worked with acclaimed artists such as Dua Lipa & Jessie Ware, the single layers smokey vocals and soulful guitar playing atop a smooth cooling bassline.

Talking on ‘Get Comfortable’ Amethyst adds, “this track is probably my favourite off the EP, because it’s such a different sound to the rest of the tracks. The track is about a couple that are falling out of love with one another and are basically sitting down to have a discussion as they breakup. However as the conversation continues they both realise they are wanting the same things but haven’t been communicating that to each other and start to connect with one another again.”

From Ella Fitzgerald, to Stevie Wonder and H.E.R,  the 23-year old singer and songwriter’s influences span a variety of genres; this enigmatic blend crafts her a sound categorised as modern R&B/neo-soul.

Speaking about the EP Amethyst said, “This EP follows my own experiences of love over the past 4 or 5 years, but also other stories that I know will resonate with the listeners... Most people will have had some kind of similar experience to at least one of the tracks of the EP.” Having been mentored by the talented Joy Crookes, the rising star is certainly one-to watch.
